Long Term Care is usually for someone with a prolonged physical illness, a disability or a cognitive impairment (such as Alzheimer’s disease). Long Term Care services may include help with activities of daily living, home health care, respite care, hospice care, adult day care and care in a nursing home or assisted living facility. There are many factors to consider when purchasing a policy. In addition, many states participate in a Partnership for Long Term Care Insurance which is an initiative between the State and private insurance companies to encourage planning for long term care needs. Please remember that Medicare has specific limitations and only covers limited number of days for skilled nursing home and home health care.
